I would like to write a review of a book and recommend an old favorite of mine, Relic (fiction) by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child (1995). Please, with all due respect, forget about the hapless movie (based on the book) that appeared a couple years later (1997), as always, the review of the relic book is way better. The authors’ are popular for their in-depth research and first rate story telling. Few reasons this book stands out as an instant classic is because the plot and character formations are strong. Another is the multi-pronged movement of the story. From my experience, I have found traditional horror stories use blunt force on how they confront or rather escape the villain within the narrative, the Relic counters that premise and weaves medicinal pharmacology research, anthropology and ethnopharmacology analysis to resist the antagonist.
As an exciting book, Relic is reminiscent of the variety of casino games – it is full of unexpected twists and a strong story. As a casino bonus, this book offers the reader intellectual satisfaction through deep research and a complex plot. Not as an action, but as an extraordinary gem, it rises to the classics thanks to its characters and multifactorial plot. Whether you’re a fan of classic slots, table games or exciting live dealers, you’ll find something to satisfy your cravings at mobile deposit gambling.
The tension in Relic is also good and moves quickly allowing the reader to walk away with some memorable characters. I should note- some details may be too realistic for some readers and technically dated for others.
If you ever had nostalgic notions to any of the above fields of interest this novel will not disappoint…wishing everyone a solid feast in literary adventures…Shaun
